This interdisciplinary conference offers a platform for doctoral researchers from all fields to explore the ethical challenges researchers face in their academic endeavours. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
animal welfare in research
bias in research
ethics and emerging technologies (e.g. AI)
researcher responsibility
reproducibility and transparency
authorship and contribution
data management and sharing
informed consent and ethics in research involving human subjects
plagiarism and other academic misconduct related to publishing
conflict of interest
peer review ethics
institutional oversight and ethics infrastructure
equity, diversity and inclusion
global and cross-cultural ethical challenges (e.g., research security)
good practices in research integrity
Doctoral researchers whose research involves ethical approvals and considerations, as well as doctoral researchers who examine ethics through philosophical, legal, psychological, sociological and similar lenses are invited to submit abstracts for 15-minute oral presentations. Each submission should include a title, the name(s) of the author(s), a brief narrative CV (max. 250 words), and an abstract (max. 250 words) summarising the research problem addressed in their work and its key findings.
Eight doctoral researchers from Graz will be selected, and their accommodation and travel expenses will be fully covered.
