The doctoral program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences aims to train doctoral candidates who contribute to the anylasis of new research topis at an (inter)national level. In their dissertation, doctoral researchers undertake the independent discussion of new scientific questions and expand their knowledge as well as their methodological skills. The courses to be completed range from mathematical/statistical methods, social science methodology and theory, quantitative/qualitative empiricism to economic models and experimental methods.

Admission and registration
Admission takes place in the study department. For this the online pre-registration must be completed. Students with an active UNIGRAZonline account can submit their application directly via their personal homepage in UNIGRAZonline under "My applications".
After admission to the doctoral program, the doctoral candidate must register his/her dissertation topic in writing with the Dean of Studies after two semesters at the latest. This registration includes
- Working title of the planned dissertation
- Proposal of a first supervisor including submission of the supervision agreement
- Specification of the dissertation subject: business administration, economics*, sociology, business education
- Proposal of a dissertation topic by submitting an exposé of the dissertation project

* For the doctoral program with a focus on economics, you must also register for the Doctoral School of Economics is also compulsory.
The dissertation can be written as a monograph or cumulative be written cumulatively.
